“In January 2008 the newly formed steering committee of Macclesfield Community Garden Centre commissioned Anne to produce a feasibility Study for the conversion of a large derelict council nursery site into a community garden centre specifically designed to provide employment training for people with learning difficulties. Anne produced an excellent study and suggested we form a Social Enterprise. The newly formed board invited Anne to join as a director. Anne then went on to bid for and raise £225,000. We then appointed her as Project Manager for the build. The centre opened on November 2009 and it is difficult to see how we would have got there without Anne’s in depth knowledge of the Social Enterprise landscape and how to deal with the various agencies, funders and partners along the way. It is fair to say that Anne helped to make our dream a reality. Anne is still an active board member.”
